When welding you want to take the proper precautions to make sure you are safe and wont get injured. First off you need to wear long sleeve shirt and long pants so you are not burned by the sparks. Secondly you need to wear proper gloves because your hands are the closest body part to the weld. Also, wear closed toe shoes because if something drops onto your foot or your foot gets burned it can hurt badly. Lastly and most importantly make sure you wear a welding mask. This will protect your eyes from drying out and ruining your eye sight. It will also allow you to look directly at your welding bead.
